It has been so hectic around here! Each of us has been off in a different direction trying to tie up all the loose ends. It is coming together though and we can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. All systems are go for our scheduled departure on February 7th. So many people have stepped up to help us in many areas. J.C., (from J.C.'s truck repair) as well as my son J.C., have worked hard to get the RV and the generator on speaking terms. We can pick it up today, so I assume it is finally A-OK. Both J.C.'s want everything to go as smooth and safely as possible for us. It is so nice to know how many people have our well-being in mind. My pastor, Dale Dunton, is coming this morning to put the logo and lettering on the trailer. I will miss my church family terribly while I am gone. Many thanks to them all for supporting our effort. Jericho has to get his health certificate and final booster shots today. More later... Peace and blessings... Andi

FUNNY THING HAPPENED AT LUNCH TODAY
Funny ,today ,the four of us,went to one of our favorite resturants for lunch and felt like celebrities!!!There were people who came up to us ,just to say hello and wish us luck. The newspaper articles have really opened our story to the general public.
We are under the two week mark now and things are moving so fast.
I want to say once more, thanks to all who have been so helpful and to those who are responding to our site. The comments that are being left are very inspirational to us.Our latest came from upstate New York!!
This may really turn out to be something.Don't miss the boat.Jump in and help!!!
We have a long road ahead(literally). We need all of the help we can get.
Love to all,

Hey....I have an idea for names for the equipment. We can call the RV "Faith" the trailer "Hope" because we are riding for a "Charity". Believe me....it is going to take a lot of faith for the '86 RV we have conditioned for the trip to actually make the entire trip - lol. Anyway, I know it is corny but let me know what you think. It is hitting Edie pretty hard that we will be leaving soon.So much to do.
The article in the paper today was exciting.Even the lady at Wal-mart recognized me.

HELLO????WHERE ARE YOU??
Hey everybody! I know you're out there.Just don't know why you aren't saying "hello"
Things here are moving as rapidly as ever. The trailer will be painted Saturday at the shop.We have been working very hard getting ready and...Edie is now a welder!!!Kenny will be here Saturday to paint so we are still sanding and grinding and welding.Have to cover everything at the shop with plastic because of the overspray.
Still a few bugs to work out on the RV but Danny is working hard and doesn't want to let us down.
We have another paper interview tomorrow.Kind of exciting. The Index Journal.Greenwood's paper.
Three weeks from today is our departure date.Coming on us fast.
There is the slightest hint of seperation anxiety starting already.Thinking of leaving our families wasn't so bad months ago but as our deadline draws near,it becomes more apparent that we will miss them all very much. So,I'd like to say "thank you" to all of them for being so supportive of what we are trying to do.We couldn't have done it with out you.
OK.Enough of that.
It's getting late and there is still so much to do.

Bye bye to my babies...
Today Robin and her crew and Maryanne and her crew came to help me break down the kennels. Kiah and Raven went to their new homes. It has been hard to foster out my "babies" in order to do this trip but I know they will be in very good hands and in wonderful loving homes. Robin, all her girls, Jessi and Ryan, and Maryanne and her family will never know how much I appreciate them for all their support and love. God has truly blessed me with wonderful friends that are family to me.... Edie is becoming quite the welder! She is doing a fantastic job on the trailer and the rack for the top. It is all coming together. I had my last check up at the Doctor yesterday and he said all systems were go. Marla and Wanda have each been trying to tie up the loose ends. Love to all...Andi

Another day closer!
Good morning. The RV is at the shop getting the last little bit done to it.When we get it back ,we should be ready to start packing. It will be interesting to see how everything we want to take will fit,and what we have to cull out.The closer we get to leaving ,the more detailed our thought process is becoming. The big items are being taken care of and the little things are left.
One of my biggest concerns on the early part of this trip is for my ability to stay warm.My family has given me some very nice long underwear.Santa brought me a Carhart coat and I found some of those new high tech shirts to wear so I think I'll be able to stand it.Funny thing is that yesterday I found myself thinking I needed to pack shorts for when it gets hot!!!My brain never stops anymore.Anyway, all of that leads back to packing the RV and wondering how in the world I'll be able to get all of my clothes in there!!I think it's safe to say that Edie and Andi can probably carry all of thier things in a duffle bag so I expect they will be laughing at me.But that's ok.The less they carry, the more room I will have!TTFN(ta ta for now.)

I got a call from Marla last night. I guess "Mama" called her to tell her that there was a tornado watch for Abbeville. Marla told me that "Mama" told her to get Andi up to the house! I guess she was afraid my little trailer might blow away. Anyway, Amos and I headed up to Edie's. Marla met us and we were followed by Evie, the cat. (Sure hope she doesn't try to follow me to California!) Sometimes I feel like the Pied Piper! Sprout was a pretty good sport about a strange dog in her territory. Amos and I spent the night and as far as I know, my trailer is still there. I just want to thank the "family" for their concern. It feels good to know people care about you. Everyday we are getting more chores done for the trip. The trailer is getting closer everyday to being ready to prime. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Andi

TALK TO US!!!
If you will look at the end of a blog you will see that you too can post blogs to us.You follow the comment link and sign in.I can't wait to hear from you!!!
As Andi said;we are one month from lift off.As hard as we are all working on this, the reality of it sets in in waves. It kind of dissappears from my mind that we are getting prepared for this journey, just feels like going to do another days work, and then it hits me."Oh my ,we are really getting things lined up to leave!Going to California!!It will be months before I'm home again!!Very exciting stuff.Kind of like drifting into lala land.
Talk to you tomorrow,Marla
Sunday Jan.7th, 2007 -
Well guys, it is one month to blast off! Am I the only one that can feel the big black locomotive coming at us at 100 miles an hour? Somehow, I think not! Thanks a million, Jessi, for the fabulous picture of Naja and Ryan and the good report you gave me today! It made my day. It is so hard to have to be seperated from my fur buddies, but knowing they are in such wonderful, loving homes and that they are content (as Naja obviously is in Ryans lap!) makes it easier. Linda and her lovely family, Mary Ann and her girls, and of course, Robin and her crew have made my life so much more relaxed because I know I don't have to worry about my babies while I am gone. I appreciate you all so much more than you know. God is good. Tomorrow is another day... so much to do... I have great team mates and it is truly a privilege to be part of such a talented and hard working group. Love to all, Andi

January 6, 2007 - Phew! We have been working on the trailer all day. Welding, sanding, grinding, bondo-ing ( I don't think that is a real word!) My right arm is ready to fall off... This morning was very hard for me... I had to take the first of my babies, (German Shepherd canine children) to her foster home. She will probably suffer much less seperation anxiety than I will. I will miss her tonight when I go to bed. She is one of my bed buddies. One of the hardest things for me has been to have to place my fur buddies into other homes. Jessi and Ryan will love her and take wonderful care of her, but I will miss her so much. Sometimes we have to do things to promote the greater good... I know the caulk was a disappointment, Marla. Sometimes it feels like one step forward and two steps back, huh? I'll help you as soon as I can if you would like...By the way, I think Shilo did great today... She's a good horse. You are very good with her. Love to all, Andi
Well all the work I put into caulking the RV was for nothing.Even though it is an exterior caulk and waterproof,it some how ran down the side of the RV during the latest rain and it now looks as though it has been whitewashed!!!Meanwhile,Edie,Andi,Kenny and Jacob(our 8 year old nephew) are steadily working on the trailer and have had somewhat the oppisite affect.Thier faces are as black as coal from grinding dust!!They washed up before I could get a picture. The donations are starting to come in and we are so grateful to all.We got the panels yesterday .We counldn't have done it without you.
Mary and Julie met today. It was a moment for us.We took some pictures and get them on as soon as we can.The difference between the two because of thier strokes is incredible. If we can make one person aware of stroke symptoms ,it will be worth it all.Let's hope it's not you!!!

My first blog..
I want to thank my oldest friend Peggy McFerron for so many things. First...she was totally selfless in her offering of her personal horse named Risk. For several reasons, I have not been able to accept her gracious offer. It is and will always remain in my heart as a wonderful offer on her part. I cannot say I was surprised since it was totally her nature to be so good to me. I have come to realize as we have grown older how much she totally fits the real friend mold. We have been friends since high school and those that have wronged me have remained enemies in her mind. Those that have been kind to me have a special place in her
heart as well as mine. She is and will always be my real and oldest friend. I love you and hope you and Lou (the Looster) have so much peace and love in your life. I love him, too just because he is so devoted to my friend.

I was asked for an autograph!!!
The owner of the local feed and seed aqsked for an autograph today. We both got a good chuckle out of that. Thanks for the boost Rodger. We pick up our panels tomorrow that will be used on the trip to make temporary pens for the horses. They are 10 feet long and weigh appro. 50lbs.(I have to start eating my wheaties!).Edie is busy welding on the horse trailer ,making a rack for the top and hooks on the sides to hold the panels. Her brother Kenny is giving us his time on Saturday to help get the trailer finished. Thanks Kenny.I'd also like to thank Bob at Headliners for the donation.
I'd like to thank Allen Hughes for the donation he made.It was our very first one .Thanks Allen
Time is really flying by now.Won't be long until we leave.I can hardly wait!!!

Our First Media Attention!
January 3rd... Hey guys! Have you noticed how fast time seems to be flying as we get closer to "D" day? Jericho was moved from his muddy pen to a 3 acre pasture where he can run and play and have a horse buddy,(Mason) to play with. There was no way I could keep ahead of the mud during this rainy time. My friend, Robin, (who is fostering several of our animals along with her six, yes, count them, six beautiful daughters, who are helping her), came to our rescue and picked him up this morning. She volunteered to help out, (a virtual answer to prayer), and move him to her place. He was very happy when I left him this morning. A huge thank you to... (lets see if I can get this right) Robin, Rachel,Laura,Jessi, Katie,Sarah and Olivia!??And I can't forget the patient husbands... Randy and Ryan. We made the paper in Abbeville today! It is our very first media attention so far. Looks like the Carolina Trekkers are an official entity! Wanda is busy working on our MY SPACE page, Marla is in Greenville doing errands and getting our shirts to the place to be embroidered, Edie is busy welding our top rack for the horse trailer. It looks great! Oh, by the way Marla, you did a great job caulking the front of the RV. Looks like Wanda will be "high and dry" in her bunk, thanks to your effort. J.C. will be bringing the water tanks tomorrow. That will be another problem solved. That's all for now. Andi

Help us name the RV
Hey everyone.Another day gone by.The four of us are haveing meetings every week now because our departure day is so rapidly approaching!I used three tubes of sealant today on the RV trying to close up the leaks.I think it's under control now.Had the tires checked and the breaks are done and getting the generator hooked up so we can have lights when there is no available electricity. Our RV has a few years on her but is really quite sound. We have been trying to come up with a name for her so if you have any ideas, please send them.Thepaypal and the link for Andi's book are up and running and that's a big plus.Andi's book is a good read. She has sure been thru alot.A very colorful lady.
OK,well, that's it for today.I'll klet you know what tomorrow is like.Meantime,it's your turn to write.Feel free to sign on as a blogger and talk to us.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Hey folks,Marla here.Well,2007 promises to be an interesting year for us.We spend our days now trying to tie up loose ends.Seems to be a lot of them!Things are really coming together though.
The RV has still got a few problems that we are working on.The horse trailer is in it's final stages of repair and coming along nicely. The team has already begun finding who's good at what and who's way to stay out of when they are working!
I'd like to say thanks to those who have been so instumental in getting us ready.
I understand the local vet,Dr.Melinda Gray, is preparing a first aide kit for the horses that we will take with us.Thanks so much. We'll send a postcartd and maybe when we get back you will prepare one of your famous coconut pies!!
There are so many people to thanks already. You know who you are. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
We are really starting our countdown now .Only 38 days till departure!
I hope you all will follow along on this journey with us.Please fill free to ask questions about the locals while we are on the trip.I am so looking forward to all of the many colorful people we will encounter.
That's it for now.
Love to all,
